Coming from a narrative fiction background, he obtained his MFA in creative writing at NYU before jumping fully into the world of skateboard filmmaking. While working as a touring videographer and editor for magazines and companies, he meanwhile directed several full-length independent skateboarding films. His films “Tengu: God of Mischief” (2013) and “Spirit Quest” (2016) both landed Best-of-the-Year awards throughout the skateboarding media landscape; the sensation around “Spirit Quest” attracted attention outside of skating, leading to fresh commercial work.
His work has been screened by venues including MoMA, the Hammer Museum, the Berlin Music Video Film Festival, the Shiny Awards Showcase, the 1.4 Awards Showcase, and Mimpi Film Fest, and regularly earns Vimeo Staff Picks. He has been interviewed about his work by Vice, Transworld Skateboarding, Booooooom, Director’s Notes, and No Film School, and has had his projects featured in outlets including The New York Times, The Huffington Post, and Gothamist.
Colin is signed to Pulse Films for music videos and commercials in the USA and UK.
He is in development for his debut narrative feature film, and is planning other narrative projects.
